About Pastor Rivens
-
Charlie D. Rivens, Sr., a pastor that has served in the Western North Carolina Conference and the United Methodist Church for more than twenty years.
-
He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina and a Master of Divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina.
-
He formerly worked in the business world managing sales for large corporations.

Rev. Rivens became a member of the United Methodist Church at an early age. He has served in various areas and levels of the Church, District, and Conference.

He meets no stranger, stands boldly on his beliefs, responds to community needs and always extends an invitation for anyone to attend the church. He is a true man of God and always delivers his messages from Biblical scriptures.

Rev. Rivens has been the pastor of New Covenant United Methodist Church for the past six years. He has also ministered in various churches and served on many committees.
About First Lady DeEtta Rivens

Mrs. DeEtta M. Rivens is a native of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
-
She became actively involved in ministry as a teen in her local church serving on the youth group. She has remained steadfast in her dedication, love, and pursuit of God by serving in various areas of the church and community.

God has blessed her to be able to help others in her spiritual and professional life daily as she serves as an Executive Administrative Assistant in a ministry setting. She is a member of Professional Administrators of the United Methodist Connectional Structure (PAUMCS) serving her local chapter in the role of Treasurer, and a member of the national standing committee of Professional Training and Standards.

DeEtta is committed to serving God, and supportive of her husband’s ministry through their common love for Christ. She has a heart for encouraging and caring for others. Her passion is training, equipping and nurturing children to live their lives in the image of Christ. She is an encouragement to women in their walk with Christ and supporting one another in their faith.

Her favorite past times are enjoying the grandchildren, spending time with family and shopping.

DeEtta walks and lives by faith in knowing: “...those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…”

She and Rev. Charlie Rivens are the parents of two adult sons, a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren.
